Get to know Specsavers Optometrist, Frank.

Can you tell us a little about your shop or service and what inspired you to work in the field? Specsavers Rockdale has been a trusted provider of eyecare services to the local community since 2014, and we've recently expanded to include hearing checks. My passion for optometry stems from a love of problem-solving and the satisfaction of tailoring solutions to each individual's unique needs. It's incredibly rewarding to make a tangible difference in someone's life by helping them see and hear better.

What’s in season or really popular right now with shoppers? Our dispensing team – Saydana, Jascenta, and Bryan – tell me that bold, statement pieces are trending. Customers are looking for frames that make a statement while still being wearable every day. Brands like Vivienne Westwood, with their bold plaid prints, are a great example of this trend.

What’s your favourite thing in-store at the moment? I'm fascinated by our OCT machine (Optical Coherence Topography). It uses light to create a detailed 3D image of the back of the eye, which is invaluable for detecting conditions like glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. The best part? We offer this advanced 3D scan complimentary with every eye test!

How long have you been working here and what do you enjoy about this centre? I've been part of the Specsavers Rockdale team for almost two and a half years. I truly appreciate the warm and welcoming atmosphere here in the centre, especially the friendly interactions with the other staff and security team.

What are your interests, any hobbies or mad obsessions? I love exploring new food experiences and traveling to new destinations. With the summer heat, I've been particularly enjoying Acai soft serve – it's the perfect refreshing treat!

What products or services do you offer and what makes them unique? We provide comprehensive eyecare services, addressing everything from routine eye exams to specialized treatments. We also offer foreign body removal and have recently launched a new line of safety eyewear. Our commitment to personalized care and the use of advanced technology, like our OCT machine, sets us apart.

What do you think makes Rockdale Plaza a great community and place to shop? The people who work at Rockdale Plaza are what truly make it a vibrant and welcoming community. The friendly atmosphere and convenient "one-stop shop" experience are what draw locals in. I especially appreciate the efforts of the security team, who go above and beyond to connect with everyone. I'm also excited about the upcoming addition of the new butcher, Mourad & Sons, with more fresh food to come!
