Tell us a bit about A & K Quality Meats: Giving great meat to the people and making them happy is what makes me happy. There’s nothing better than getting to know our customers, we have had many customers shop with us since we first started in 1975.

What's changed most in recent times? Meat prices have gone up around Sydney. We’re not greedy with our prices. We want to give a great product at a reasonable price. That’s why we have such loyal customers who continue to come back.

What sets you apart from other butchers?  Today, we’re still doing it in the old style. We get the whole animal and cut it fresh on premises. Not getting it pre-packaged is part of our secret to delivering the freshest and the best quality. We make sure all our meat is cut to perfection. You can tell it’s fresh because when it’s too dark, you know it’s been there for a long time.

How long have you been working here? It’s been 7 years at Rockdale Plaza, but we started A&K Quality Meats back in 1975, now we have 2 shops operating in Sydney. One in Bexley North and Rockdale Plaza.

What's the most popular produce you sell?  People love our fillet steak and scotch fillets. Our lamb backstrap, eye fillets and cutlets are popular and of course our sausages. All our sausages are made on the premises. We do gluten free with beef, herb & garlic, Italian style and delicious lamb sausages.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I really enjoy gardening, i have a very large and beautiful garden at home, you will most likely find me there when i'm not in the shop. I grow a lot of the herbs and spices we use in our products from my garden.
